Village near Patzcuaro, Mexico 14x18 oil
More than 20 years ago I painted in this very spot. It was in the 1980s, my first long trip into Mexico. This village, as the title suggests, is near the town of Patzcuaro on a very small road that makes its way around the lake (Lago Patzcuaro). In the 80s there were no freeways. Today you make your way to Patzcuaro on a very nice four-lane, divided freeway. last year, while driving around the lake, I thought this scene looked very familiar and soon realized I had been here before. After returning home I looked through photographs from 20 years ago and found this same view. With the exception of a few small houses on the hillside, not very much has changed.
